We believe that education is all about shaping young people who embrace Christian virtues and are prepared to be loving, principled leaders in their families, parishes, and communities.
"Catholic education is not just an investment in the here and now. It's an investment in eternity."
-Bishop Paul Bradley
The Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo (CSGK) are spiritually and financially supported by eight area parishes. The financial support provided by our parishes allows CSGK to offer a lower rate for parishioners of the eight supporting parishes. This allows us to evangelize and make Catholic education affordable for all families.
CSGK schools are a part of the Diocese of Kalamazoo.
The Catholic Diocese of Kalamazoo, led by Bishop Edward M. Lohse, encompasses nine counties in southwest Michigan: Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Berrien, Cass, St. Joseph, and Branch. Within those counties are 59 parishes and 22 Catholic schools!
The diocese was founded in 1971 when the Second Vatican Council called for the creation of smaller dioceses so that bishops could be more available to the people they serve.
Mass is an extremely important part of our religious tradition. In order to teach our students to grow up to be strong Catholics, we teach them the importance of going to Mass. It is while we are connecting with Christ through the Eucharist that our faith grows stronger and we can more clearly see the plans God has for us.
Students participate in the Mass by reading, cantoring, ushering, and by being altar servers.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is also offered at Hackett Catholic Prep weekly.
